Competition Time at Wynyard C of E Primary School

County Durham-based developer, Dere Street Homes, has involved the local children attending Wynyard Primary C of E School to enter a competition to name the new house types which are to be built at their new exclusive Wynyard Rise development.

Ruth Patchett, Dere Street Homes’ Development Sales Manager explained the competition, “We will be launching Wynyard Rise in November but wanted to make sure the adjacent school knew all about our plans so that any disruption to their routine was kept to a minimum.”

“With Roger Ward, the Head Teacher, we came up with the idea of a competition where the children could name the house types, judged on the best picture and the most appropriate names. The response was fantastic with great drawings and really imaginative names so that the five house types we are building here will now be named, the Tate, the Wynston, the Forrester, the Stag and the Wardell design.”

The seven winners were presented with their framed designs and book tokens at the school this week by Ruth and Louise Kenny, Dere Street Homes’ Sales Office and IT Manager, alongside Roger Ward, Head Teacher of Wynyard Primary C of E School.

Roger Ward added, “The children really enjoyed the competition and are naturally fascinated by the construction activity next door - the winning children are just so excited now at having the houses named after their suggestions! Dere Street have been very helpful and are going out of their way to make sure the site is safe and keeping disruption to a minimum and we’re all looking forward to seeing the houses rise up out of the ground over the months to come.”

The new development will consist of 64 luxury four, five and six bedroom detached homes with prices of the first phase due to be released in November. Located in one of most sought after areas of the private estate, the homes have been designed for modern family living offering high specifications to suit all aspects of family life. The tranquil surroundings off Wynyard Woods offer a superb location with easy access to Teesside, the A1(M) and the A19, whilst nearby Wynyard Hall Hotel and Spa offering superb facilities and Wynyard Village offering local amenities including a pharmacy, salon, dentist, grocery store, café, pub and restaurant.
